Vegas hasn’t been exactly a hub for sports in the past, but with the addition of both the T-Mobile Arena and the Las Vegas Ballpark, it looks like the city of lights is slated to have its own football team and begin hosting major sports events. If you’re taking a trip to Vegas with a sports lover, or you’re one yourself, these are the prime destinations for sports lovers of all kinds. From the Vegas motor speedway to the oasis-like atmosphere of the Paiute golf resort, here are the best sports spot in Las Vegas.
Las Vegas Motor Speedway
If you love the hum of an engine and the roar of passing race cars, the Las Vegas Motor Speedway is the spot for you. This 1,200-acre complex is home to some of the best racing in the world, hosting NASCAR and other racing events year-round. Whether you’re into drag-racing or the thrill of a 200-lap NASCAR event, the speedway has a total of nine race tracks, including its massive 1.5 superspeedway.
But wait, there’s more! Have you ever wanted to get behind the wheel of a super-fast sports car? Perhaps a Lamborghini or a Ferrari? The speedway is home to the largest selection of supercars in the world, and you can get behind the wheel for the ultimate dream racing experience. With four different racing experience packages, you can either experience the power of a NASCAR stock car or the elegance and speed of a supercar.
The LVS is a family-friendly venue, so feel free to bring the kids (if you brought them at all on your trip!). Ticket prices will vary per event, and you can purchase them both online and at the gate.
The Still Sports Bar
After you’ve had your fill at the races, it’s time to wind down and watch the play-offs in a rustic and comfortable Las Vegas sports bar. The Still is located at 3400 S. Las Vegas Blvd., in the heart of the iconic Mirage hotel. This 8,000 square-foot eatery and brewhouse offers 27 TVs for optimal viewing, over fifty craft beers to thrill your taste buds, and an atmosphere that’s truly one of a kind.
The heart of the Sill is its centerpiece, a refurbished Airstream trailer that was found abandoned in the back hills of Tennessee. Polished to a metallic finish, the trailer is both an eye-catching addition to the bar and the centerpiece of its ambiance.
Whether you’re looking for some amazing tacos, tasty mini-cheeseburgers, or the bar’s deep-fried Oreo’s, the Still won’t disappoint. The Still is the perfect location to retire for the day and have a few drinks and a platter before bed. Enjoy a game with the boys or take the spouse out for some craft beers at this truly Vegas bar and eatery.
The T-Mobile Arena
Vegas has been the center of a lot of buzz in the sports world since the addition of the T-Mobile Arena in 2016, and the subsequent formation of the city’s hockey team, the Vegas Golden Knights, who began play in 2017. The gigantic sixteen-acre facility is home to concerts, UFC fights, and more. For the sports lover, this new addition to the Las Vegas sports scene is a must-see destination.
The construction of this massive sports arena has paved the way for future additions to the Las Vegas sports scene, proving that sports events can be hosted in sin city without any fixing or corruption. The residents of Vegas are certainly thrilled to be home to their very first hockey team, and we’re certain to see more sports teams coming about in the near future.
Las Vegas Ballpark
Sports fans visiting or residing in Vegas have something to be excited about this year. In April of 2019, the Las Vegas Ballpark opened its doors to the public and is home to the minor league team, The Las Vegas Aviators. This 10,000 seat arena is perfect for a mid-afternoon baseball game, and has even received the MiLB Triple-A Best of award for stadiums.
The arena hosted its first game on April 9th of this year, smashing the Sacramento River Cats with a 10-2 win for a sold-out crowd. With 11,000+ people in attendance on opening day, it’s safe to assume that Vegas is excited for this new addition to its sports repertoire.
Paiute Golf Course
Last but not least, we’d like to introduce the Paiute Golf Course. This magnificent golf resort centered in the heart of the Nevada desert is nothing short of a beautiful oasis in a sprawling blanket of sand that stretches for hundreds of miles. After you’ve hit the motor speedway for a NASCAR race, or visited the T-Mobile Arena for a UFC bout, unwind in class and luxury at this golf destination that’s sure to impress even non-golf enthusiasts.
With three different courses and a bar and grill that’s nothing short of an experience in elegance, you’ll be treated to some of the best golf west of the Mississippi and some of the best food and service in Las Vegas. Visit the resort’s Pro Shop for something to remember the experience by, and don’t forget to try out all three of the courses! Paiute hosts several tournaments each year, so you may even get lucky and get to see the pros in action.
