When All Else Fails, Write.

This is just unbelievable.  My 19 year old nephew just arrived at my door with 3 newborn kittens in his hand.  He said as he was driving to my house he thought he heard something and he checked his trunk and there they were.  Last night, he spent the night at a friends house and left his car window down.  When he went to his car the next day, he noticed a cat running from around his car but didn’t think much of it.

Well.  The only thing I can figure is this mama cat saw an open window and stashed her babies on in, obviously not realizing that they’d be driven off to MY HOUSE about 45 minutes away.  Now it’s 10:00 at night, on a Friday, and I have 3 tiny Lil babies-eyes still shut-trying to nurse off my Jammie’s.

Before getting pregnant with Josh, I was an animal rescuer.  I had the resources necessary to take in abandoned animals and re-home them.  When I got pregnant with Josh, my doctor forbid any contact with cats, due to toxoplasmosis, the disease that is harmful to a human fetus and is transferred from kitty litter.

Since having Joshua, I have been more concerned with him (and ME) sleeping and have decided not to take in strays anymore.  Since moving, I don’t have any SC contacts and I don’t have the tools or energy to care for these little babies.

So I’ve been calling EVERYWHERE.  All the 24 hour vets are sympathetic but unable to help, since its a sterile environment, they can’t bring the kittens in.  Now that makes not sense to me, seeing as the reason its 24 hour is so we can bring sick animals in, but whatever.  I’ve called every shelter but they’re all closed, as expected.  The vets suggested animal control.

SO it looks like I’ll be pulling an all nighter.  I’ll have to run to the store for kitten bottles and KMR kitty milk, make a nice cozy kitty nest and wake up every 2-3 hours to feed them, and also manage to take care of my 5 month old.

I’ll let you know how it goes.  Venting helps.  It really does.
