CLOSED- Vicks Starry Night Humidifier Giveaway!

Sometimes times I have super good luck (because I’m awesome).  I was just saying how I wished I had a second humidifier because I recently had my tonsils out and my doctor recommended that I use one to help heal my throat but my two and a half year old suddenly caught that nasty cold that has everybody coughing.  About two days later, I received an email from Vicks asking if I’d like to host a review and giveaway of their new Starry Night Cool Moisture Humidifier and asked if I’d also like to review the Braun Thermoscan Exac Temp Ear Thermometer while I’m at it and with Josh being sick I’d said you bet’cha!

And so they arrive (rather quickly, I might add – THANK YOU!) and I took the humidifier out of the box.  I’ve used other humidifiers before and I was a bit nervous because sometimes they’re tough to put together with a billion parts and filters but this one assembled in about two minutes.  My only problem was that I filled it up downstairs and carried the full tank up to the second floor and down the hall and if you know me, I’m not the most graceful person so I got a teensy bit wet.

I put it in Joshua’s room early on in the day and turned the humidifier part on to get the moisture in the air when he was ready to go to bed and then I took his temperature with my new thermometer to ensure he didn’t have a fever.

The Thermoscan Exac Temp comes with a unique pre-warmed tip that helps provide better accuracy.  It minimizes the cooling effect that could result from the insertion of a cool probe tip. The pre-warmed tip helps ensure accuracy every time.

It also comes with the hygienic lens filter, which helps ensure an exact reading while preventing cross contamination.  If you have 2 sick children but don’t know if they have the same illness, the last thing you want to do is have them share anything that could harm the other one.

Relieved that it appeared he seemed okay other than the troublesome cough, I got him ready for bed and told him I had a special treat for him.  He already has a nightlight he loves because he can make it blue or green but the humidifier features a built-in, independently controlled projector that displays the moon and stars with rotating colors that dmystifies my little monster. I have the option to turn off the lights once he has fallen asleep without turning off the humidifier altogether, although I don’t have to.  I tried it once and when he woke up the next morning he wasn’t too happy with me.

With the Vicks Starry Night Humidifier, parents also no longer have to deal with the hassle of glow-in-the-dark stickers to create an awe-inspiring galaxy on their child’s bedroom ceiling (which coincidentally, my five year old has on his ceiling, so that’s pretty hilarious).

Here’s the cutest part – every single night when I take a few moments to rock him before he falls asleep he looks up at his ceiling and sings “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star”.  Every single night.  It’s so stinking cute.  Before I got this humidifier he made me sing STYX “Come Sail Away” (no joke) and it’s much cuter hearing him sing than it is to hear myself, especially given the fact I recently had my tonsils out.

Okay, here comes the fun.  Vicks and I are giving you a chance to win your very own Vicks Starry Night Humidifier, valued at $54.99!  The giveaway is going to run until Monday, December 27, 2010 and is valid for US Residents only ages 18 and up.
