Okay, So You Have Your Team, Now What?

By now, most of you have already had your draft – except  the folks in Momspective III, which is now full, and if anyone does still want to join, I can form another league but I have to point out that those late leagues will miss week one, as I’m setting the auto-draft for the last available date ESPN has to offer.

Now just log back into the ESPN league you’re signed up for (you should have the information in your email if you’re not sure what I mean).  Take a look at the players you have to see what the auto-draft did for you.  What I’m going to do today is explain what we do next.

Take a look at my Momspective I draft team results.  What you see here is a screen shot of the team I ended up with. Feel free to click on the picture to open it full size.

I’m just going to take you through what you’re going to need to do before each week.  You can see in last week’s post the explanation of the importance of checking the letters next to your player’s names (P, Q and O) and it’s important to see that the team is divided into two sections.

Section one, on top, is the team you’re playing for that week – your starters. This is where your players actually score for you. The Bench is exactly that, it’s the players you’re choosing not to or unable to play for the week, their results for the week do not counts towards your weeks game and the points they accrue that week will not give you any points since they are not being played.  If you want to take someone off the bench, simply click “move” and it will highlight where you can move that player, so you’re moving the player into the correct available position.

In the second column, you’ll see what team your players are playing that week and what time the game is at.  Pay attention to that because as the season progresses, there will be games played on other days of the week besides Sunday and Monday.

The column after that tells you the stats for that player from the previous year.  If you’d like to learn more about a player, you can always click their name to be taken to their full profile.  The stats simply give you an idea of what that player was ranked as for their position the previous season, the total points accrued and their game average.

The final column is specific to the week you’ll be playing.  All I really look at is the is the “proj”  which projects what ESPN thinks that player will get that week in their player match up.  I personally like to click at the top of that page on the team I’ll be playing that week (current matchup) and see who has more projected points.

The season starts on Thursday of this week, so please feel free to hit the ‘Contact” button if you get lost for any reason, I’ll address your question personally via email and will also add the question to this week’s post.  Please bear in mind, this training is also new to me, and I’ll be doing the best I can to teach everyone to the best of my abilities!
