Fantasy Football – Come On You Slackers
Because we’re about 2/3 of the way through the Fantasy Football season (1/2 way through if you count the playoffs), I’m going to take the time to remind everyone why we’ve gotten into this in the first place and recap what we’ve talked about so far.
My goal in creating this training course is to strengthen relationships. Years ago, before I met my husband, I loathed football. I hated Sunday’s for taking my men away from me. When I watched the Super Bowl, I chose the team I liked based on hot guys and jersey colors.
One day, a few months into my relationship with my husband, he explained how much football means to him. He has always been great about being supportive of what I’d like and he’d never asked me for anything. Ryan is a software engineer and there is nothing that man can program, including his wife.
He told me he was going to put me through a 16 week training program. He didn’t train me the way I’m trying to teach all of you, but instead he explained each play as it was happening and the logistics behind the plays.
The following year, he suggested we play Fantasy Football. Our friends have a league together and he and I joined up. He felt that the year before, I had learned all I could learn about football, but I only knew about the Carolina Panthers. By playing Fantasy Football, I was learning about and paying attention to the other teams and players in the NFL and therefore getting a deeper understanding of the sport.
I officially love Sundays. I don’t know what to do in the off-season. I can hold my own in a conversation with the neighbors and in fact came in second place my very first year I played. Some of you joined for the same reason I did, to do this for your spouse. Some of you enjoy the games but wanted to learn more about Fantasy Football and some of you joined for the heck of it.
I think I’ve gone over everything one needs to know about learning the game, but if you have any questions I welcome them and will address them in my Monday posts. I just want to encourage you to take ten minutes from your day each week to take a look at your teams. Make roster adjustments, trade players and kick ass. I know you can do it.
Okay, So You Have Your Team, Now What?
Don’t Believe The Projections and Team Modifications

I wonder if football players have Fantasy Real People teams.

Thanks for the nudge. I was really irritated because I lost a few weeks ago to someone who obviously didn’t monitor their lineup that week due to Byes. How embarrassing to lose to someone who wasn’t able to actively make an effort! I post about this weekly on our blog. It has been fun. I already was a fan but it was nice to enter into the Fantasy fray in a welcoming environment.

I had to laugh when I read your title line!
That’s so great that you have such a fun way to bond with hubby! I usually leave the Fantasy games to hubby since he is involved with his crew at work. But I will always ask who I’m supposed to be going for, and then get into it from there LOL!
In the off-season, we usually watch post-season reviews of all the old games and players, or movie after movie of the football true stories like We are Marshal, The Express and the like. I will admit that he’s gotten me addicted to those! We can’t WAIT for The Blind Side to come out later this month!!
