Fitness Friday – Thought I Lost My PTW. Whew!

fitness-friday-button-new

Okay, that’s it.  I’m addicted.  Never, not once in my life, would I think of myself as a fitness person.  Not once.  As a kid, I was just super skinny and in high school I called myself fat because it was what all the girls did but looking back I want to slap myself because I was HAWT.

I think that’s the reason I ended up gaining weight with my kids.  I always just assumed I’d be thin and stay that way without trying.  I was obviously wrong.

Since having my children, everyone knows I stay fit with the Wii.  Since having my operation, I’ve found I can also maintain my health and fitness using Nintendo’s Personal Trainer: Walking for the DS and DSi.

For the past few weeks, I’ve been challenging my dog, Tribute to a #PTwalking (to follow on Twitter) challenge.  Holy trending, Batman!  Just me talking about this challenge has opened up so many people to this awesome product!  Not only have the Wii Mommies started tracking their progress, but my husband and his best buddy are OBSESSED with it!  They get together every morning at work to track their stats together and while I’m using it for my recovery, Jenn is walking to maintain her health during pregnancy!

ANYWAY.  So listen to what I did.  I thought I lost it.  I was in NY, then Chicago, then NY again before returning to SC yesterday (and off again to the Ocean Isle Inn today about 3 hours away.  I’m unstoppable).  I wore my PT Walking faithfully every day until my last day in Syracuse and had a mad dash of packing, saying goodbye (*sniff*) and flying (read THAT post. You’ll love it).

Then yesterday, in the confusion of it all, I noticed I didn’t have it on.  I was standing at the airport frisking myself like a crazy woman and realized it wasn’t on my bra where I usually keep it.  Being that I was alone with two kids and my bags were checked, I didn’t have time to search for it but the second I got home I started tossing things around in search of this game.

Ryan told me not to worry.  He said we’d get another one.  He said I could have his.  Nothing made me feel better.  It was the first day I hadn’t worn it and with all the flying I had done, I was sure I got a million steps in!  Defeated, I went to bed so I could wake to drive to the beach for our weekend stay at the Ocean Isle Inn (last chance to win a two night stay by the way!).

I didn’t even unpack from NY.  I opened the suitcase, tossed some of Ryan’s clothes in and pulled my dress clothes out and we left.  We drove a few hours to the shore and walked the beaches of Ocean Isle.  The entire time, Ryan wore his activity meter.  Me?  I felt lost without it.  My only solace was knowing he and I took the exact same amount of steps so I could at least get an idea of what I’ve done but I was SO anxious being without it!

Then it happened.  I was tossing clothes around my room at the inn (it’s what I do as soon as I get in a room, sorry @oceanisleinn, I’ll pick it up.) and I saw my yellow tank top with my activity meter attached to the strap.  OF COURSE!  When I wear tanks with the built-in bras, I strap it to that!  The entire time I was looking at every bra I have ever owned and every crevice of my bag to find it and it was in the giant pile of clothes the entire time!  Whoo hoo!

I seriously acted like I just won the lottery.  Ryan was bathing the kids and I started whooping and hollering and I’m fairly sure he thought I stubbed a toe or something because he came flying out of the bathroom to see what I had done.  With tears of joy in my eyes I exclaimed, “I found it!  I’m okay!” and he happily gave his congrats and went to wipe sand out of the baby’s crack.

So that’s my story.  I’m a fitness addict.  If I’m not using the Wii Fit or EA SPORTS Active (and I plan to soon), I’m using Personal Trainer: Walking.  I seriously have no idea what I’d do if Nintendo didn’t think of all of these wonderful things.  I’m fairly sure I’d be sitting on my couch watching Oprah and eating Bon Bons.
