Don’t Believe The Projections and Team Modifications

First off- WHAT THE SHIT, CAROLINA?

Now that you’ve seen a bit about how this works, I’ll tell you about adding/dropping players and give advice on how to choose who to play each week.  Don’t always believe the projections, you’ll want to know your opponent before deciding who to play.

Granted, some things are just out of your hands.  Say I have the Baltimore Ravens as defense on my team.  I play against someone with Kansas City as theirs, so I should have had it in the bag but KC put some points up and that took the Ravens down to -1 instead of the 11 points they were being projected to get.

See who you have available to play and see who they’re playing.  You might have an average player playing a really shitty team so you’ll know that player should be able to bring you points.  The following week, it could be a different story with that same player.  If you have a guy up against Detroit, play him.  Detroit blows.  If he’s up against New England, you might want to re-think your strategy for the week.

Carolina has no offfense. Fox needs to go. Just sayin’.

So what do you do if you decide you don’t want a certain player on your team?  You might have someone injured and out for the year, have a bias against a player you drafted (like I don’t care how good he his, I do NOT want Michael Vic anywhere near my teams) or might just see someone out there who could bring you more points than a player you already have.

We all could have sat there watching Carolina completely naked and they still would have lost.  No pants Sunday can only go so far.  This year, it seems to be going nowhere. I’m putting my pants back on.

ANYWAY.

If you go into your team within the league you’re in, you can see the option for “Add Player” and another one for “Drop Players”.  Click on “Add Player” to see who’s available.  You can look at all available players or select a specific position.

When you see a player you’re interested in, simply click “add” and it will tell you to adjust your roster and choose a player to drop.  If you’re replacing a QB, you’ll most likely want to drop one of your quarterbacks to keep your team even.  Be sure to take a look to see what you have.  I once ended up with six WR’s, six RB’s and one QB.  I need more than one QB, because the one I have will have a bye week (week off) and I’ll have no one else to play. I also could use a backup TE and my Defense was horrible, so I’m ditched them.

QB’s and RB’s bring you the most points.  If I only have one QB I will be screwed if he gets injured or has a bye week, so I’m going to want to drop one of my WR’s and pick up a backup QB.  It also wouldn’t hurt to pick up another TE, so I’ll drop about WR for that.

The “Drop Player” button seems pointless to me, because it’s doubtful you’ll just drop someone without the need to fill that slot, so I usually just ignore it.

I don’t want to overwhelm everyone with too much detail, so hopefully this gives you a good idea of how to adjust your lineup.  If you have any questions, contact me.

Here’s to a happy football weekend, unless you’re the effin’ Carolina Panthers.  Friggin’ A.

This rundown was better than some of the guys!!! Great stuff Julie… sure you don’t want to post a blog over on my site??? How can you beat a fantasy league rundown with a PINK background?

You can take whatever you’d like and link back to this site, but I have so much going on I’m behind on my own posts, I’d be horrible about guest posting lol.

I wouldn’t get rid of baltimore.. They have traditionally had one of top Ds in the NFL. they did have a bad game, but don’t we all. If anything I’d have two… but wouldn’t jump the gun on them just yet.

Oh, I’m not getting rid of Baltimore, I’m getting rod of Miami on another league lol.

  • Team madmom crushed me!!! I’m enjoying this and I think my husband is secretly enjoying it too. He pretty much takes over my team (to tell me how crappy it is).

Hey – thanks! I kept going to the Drop Players tab to give McNabb the boot and it said Locked next to his name (presumably because games for this week are still in progress until after tonight?) but by following your instructions to use the Add Players tab first I was able to submit my request to dump him and add an actually healthy QB.

oh, it looks as if you are ditching baltimore??? anyways, yeah Miami wouldnt be a good D… But projections are the best way to judge a player/team when one doesnt watch majority of the games. They are never dead on, but that’s why they are projections :) It’s always a good bet to research the players too… I’m always for the the watching of the games though as it proves to be the best way to pick a player :)

That was just a screen shot of one of the teams, I have 4 leagues and just got the shot of the first one I pulled up lol.

i wasnt loooking at the screen shot silly. I was reading what you wrote :) Also one more tidbit.. Detroit blew last year, but don’t count them out this year. they held their own yesterday against a good NO team and have some good fantasy players on their team. :)

No, I was saying in the post that I had the Ravens and it was projected they’d get 11, but KC put up a good fight and I ended up with -1, so while projections are a good guideline, you can’t always count on them when making your decisions. You need to take all possibilities into account.

why did you delete my last post? just trying to help out :) but i can take a hint… good luck!

    Julie Reply:

It shouldn’t have deleted it. They take a while to show, it might be left in the approval section still.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting! You’re one of few so far, I’m starting to think about begging for people to read mine, I’m trying!! Ok, meltdown over, moving on… Sorry about Carolina, I’m actually from there, but married into an Eagles family, and since that’s where I learned the rules and how to actually understand what I’m watching I’m a fan, so that game was pretty great for us! I do not, however, and probably never will, understand fantasy, seems complicated for a newbie.

Good advice, Julie. I will say, the projections are based on who that player is up against.
