Play More, Eat Right, Push Away the Screen
I’m proud to say I’m joining in to help SUBWAY® Restaurants and the National Institute of Health to help spread the word about the We Can!â„¢ or “Ways to Enhance Children’s Activity & Nutrition”, a national program designed for families and communities to help children maintain a healthy weight. The program focuses on three important behaviors: improved food choices, increased physical activity and reduced screen time.
We’re turning off the TV and heading out to enjoy the beautiful spring weather in all kinds of ways like jump roping, bubble blowing and bike riding. April 20-26 is National TV Turn-Off Week, so get up off that couch and take a walk to the park and get on the swings or slide down that slide with your kids. You’re not only doing your part to fight childhood obesity, but you’re helping yourself as well!

SUBWAY® is committed to spreading We Can! messages nationwide as part of a co-branded marketing campaign. The campaign will showcase We Can! messages and resources at SUBWAY® restaurants, on the SubwayKids.com Web site, and through print and online outreach with Scholastic, Inc. The Scholastic aspect alone will reach millions of teachers and families, and the materials – including a colorful “You Are What You Eat†poster, activity pages for kids, and tip sheets for families – are already available free for download at: www.scholastic.com/wecan.

We love being outside with our kids!
I like it! Buffy and I just ate Subway subs, at home, the other day. If we are what we eat, then we’re subways often enough.
xxxoooxxx
That is Great. Thanks for sharing and Kudos for help spreading the word.
That’s great that they are running a program like that…I’m so not a fan of TV anyway.
I have to fight my kids to come inside after school. They play up until time for dinner. If they didn’t have to eat or sleep, I guess they’d be out in the back yard all of the time! *LOL*
Those are some cute kids!
Mine would live outside if they could.
Good for you!! I kick my kids outside every day too, rain or shine.
Of course, I also tell them I’m going to fatten them up so that we can finally find a pr of jeans/pants that will fit them without having to resort to belts.
I don’t watch TV, but I’ll have to inform the husband…
Wow! What a wonderful thing Subway is doing to prevent childhood obesity. The US needs more programs like this. Thank you for sharing!
