My “Momspective” on the EA SPORTS Active Retreat-Fitness Friday

fitness-friday-button-new

I went into this past weekend excited yet apprehensive. Having already lost 60 pounds through virtual fitness, I felt confident that trying out and being a part of the EA SPORTS Active 30 day challenge would be what I needed to get through the plateau I seemed to have reached but I was nervous that I would look silly working out in front of cameras and challengers.

From the second I arrived, I was treated like a star and every single person I met was not only helpful but inspirational. Meeting the challengers was super exciting because although I had met two of them before, there were many I have followed and read through their blogs so I was eager to be able to speak to them in person.

It wasn’t just about the superstar treatment we all received with our suburb makeup artists and the phenomenal production crew, the support shown to me by the staff at EA SPORTS and the ease of which I got along with the rest of the team make all my anxieties disappear. I found fitness strategies that I can both adopt in my daily routine, and use to inspire others as they strive to hit their own fitness goals.

Sure, it was a little intimidating doing a side lunge with Bob Greene and a camera crew standing by watching, but when I heard words of encouragement from everyone looking on, I suddenly didn’t care that I was being watched and filmed, because I know that I’m doing a good thing by showing the world someone like me-someone who struggles with her weight-can and has had proven results with virtual fitness games like EA SPORTS Active.

The biggest surprise, however, was realizing with the help of my team and Bob Greene that I can’t just focus on getting fit by diet and exercise alone, I have to focus on myself as a whole. I kept saying “I need to lose twenty more” but what Bob pointed out is that I already LOST sixty pounds and I should focus on the fact that I accomplished such a positive, wonderful thing and not beat myself up over the last twenty.

I believe that by using the EA SPORTS Active game to help chart my daily fitness activities and diet, along with the pre-programmed 30 day challenge, I’ll begin to have a different outlook on myself and my life. I’m going to follow the “Best Life Diet” plan Bob Greene recommends and examine who I am and what led me to my weight gain (besides the pregnancies, of course) to ensure that once this challenge is over, I can move on to the next challenge to even further better myself physically and mentally.

You can listen to my interview with EA SPORTS radio by clicking HERE.  It’s lengthy, and I’m proud of it!

You’re so brave! I don’t know if I could work out in front of cameras. Good for you. I’m looking forward to hearing about your 30 day challenge!

  • That’s awesome Julie!!

I FINALLY got the WiiFit the other night and my daughter and I are loving it. My legs are STILL sore!! LOL We’re both determined to see our chubby mii’s lose some weight!!

  • Auntie E says:

I’ve always believed it’s mindset that helps one stay fit and loose weight. Bob Green sounds like a Wise man! We so often beat ourselves up over what we haven’t done. When what we have done is our strength.

  • I’m so proud of you, Julie! I am SO looking forward to trying the EASPORTS Active, and I really need to look into the Best Life Diet.

  • Brandy says:

What a wonderful, wonderful retreat!! I’m so glad you go to go and experience it (and then share with us on your blog)!

I’ve re-started doing Wii Sports, but still dream of that Wii Fit. :)

    You go, girl!!

  • Christi says:

Julie! I’m so psyched! You have been my inspiration ever since you first shared your story of losing weight with your Wii Fit. I have wanted one so badly, and I’ve taken the first step….we bought a Wii with money from our tax refund! Couldn’t convince dh to splurge yet on the Wii Fit, so I got My Fitness Coach to use for now. I hope to join the list of hot mamas who have lost weight with it soon!! Thank you for sharing your story, and showing us that WE can do it too!

  • You rock! You’re such a good example. After reading this, I made myself think back to where I was before I got my Wii Fit, and how much I had accomplished. It’s true, I have accomplished a lot! I feel better, I have fun exercising when I do make time to do it, and I HAVE lost weight – I’m still hard on myself because I don’t have the exact body I want… but will I ever, really? I need to change the way I think because I don’t want to pass on a messed-up self image to my daughter. :-) Thanks for everything!

  • I love that you got to go to the retreat and try out the new game – I’m excited for it to be available to the general public, I’m looking forward to expanding my horizons while reducing the shadow… ;) You ROCK!!

    Happy Easter! :)

  • JulieChats says:

Thanks for being such a great inspiration! I’m hoping for the wii fit for mother’s day, I think it would be a perfect gift! Sounds like your trip was great, can’t wait to listen to your interview! :)

  • I want Bob to come train me…for real. I love him…

60lbs is AMAZING…congratulations…and keep up the good work! You deserve it!
