Let’s Do It For Our Country

No more white, I’m still wearing open toes shoes, I’m in SC. There’s that holiday everyone confuses with the other.  It’s always either Labor or Memorial and either way, we’re celebrating something – The Fourth of July.

It’s about freedom.  Freedom isn’t free.  To quote -

What would you do
If you were asked to give up your dreams for freedom?
What would you do
If asked to make the ultimate sacrifice?

Would you think about all them people
Who gave up everything they had?
Would you think about all them War Vets
And would you start to feel bad?

Freedom isn’t free
It costs folks like you and me
And if we don’t all chip in
We’ll never pay that bill
Freedom isn’t free
No, there’s a hefty in’ fee.
And if you don’t throw in your buck ‘o five
Who will?

What would you do
If someone told you to fight for freedom?
Would you answer the call
Or run away like a little ?
‘Cause the only reason that you’re here
Is ’cause folks died for you in the past
So maybe now it’s your turn
To die kicking some ass

Freedom isn’t free
It costs folks like you and me
And if we don’t all chip in
We’ll never pay that bill
Freedom isn’t free
Now there’s a hefty in’ fee
And if you don’t throw in your buck ‘o five
Who will?

You don’t throw in your buck ‘o five. Who will?
Oooh buck ‘o five
Freedom costs a buck ‘o five

America, Fuck yeah! I think that song is more appropriate for Memorial Day but everyone keeps saying “It’s one or the other” and I thought, “You know what?  They’re right.  It’s about the Fourth of July”.

So what is today about?  It about appreciating your family, your home, your job (or my fingers are crossed that you get one), the service the men and women do for our country, the extended holiday weekend and the closing of all the pools.

That part pisses me off.

So pissed off.

I have nothing else to say.

I really haven’t said anything.

Ramesh Deshmukh wants to hit that.

Let’s do it for our country? So Labor Day means guys should go out and impregnate as many girls as possible in January, right?

  • And this is why I love you. ;) Enjoy your labor day – sorry about the pools closing. :)

Why doesn’t anyone confuse Labor day with Mother’s Day? It’s still going to be over 90 degrees this week…so open shoes, wearing white and being half naked all seem appropriate. :-)

Are you avoiding my insisting we hang out?

  • Raven says:

It was too cold to use our pool this weekend, so it just sat there, open and unusable, taunting me with it’s refreshing waters. Now it’s closed and I didn’t even get a chance for one last swim.

I never really got the American Memorial Day. Over here in Israel, we have a Memorial Day and it’s a national day of mourning, literally. It’s a sad sad day, with sad songs on the radio, TV shows about soldiers who died in wars and ceremonies in schools, in military cemeteries and basically in every community. They also sound the sirens twice on that day, and at that time the entire country stops to pay respects to those who gave their lives. Entertainment venues are all closed – no restaurants, no movies, no nothing. Who’d want to go anyway?
