Fitness Friday – Laughter Is The Best Medicine

fitness-friday-button-new

I’m in training for the upcoming “Run For Your Life” 5K that will take place at the Dowd YMCA in Charlotte, NC this November on behalf of EA SPORTS Active.  I’ve never ran a 5K before and to be honest, have never ran.  Ever.  Not even from my mama or the cops.

I screwed up.  I ran to hug a friend and lost my balance.  Anyone who knows me knows balance is not my strong suit.  Because of that, I did this -

ouch

Yep, I did that.  Yep it hurt.  Yep, it STILL hurts.

So now I have to take a week off from my EA SPORTS 5K  training.  I totally can’t squat to get Active.  I can’t do shit.

What I CAN do is laugh.

I have been laughing my ass off lately.  I’ve been laughing with my husband, who is the funniest person I know.  I’ve been laughing at myself, because I am SUCH a retard.  Laughing with my children, because there is no better sound than a child laughing.  I have a great friend visiting and we’ve been laughing at the stupid things we’ve done in our past and laughing at each other and you know what I’ve noticed?  I can feel my abs getting stronger!

Laughing is making me thin.  I’ve actually felt sore I’ve laughed so hard in the past few weeks.  You know when a person grabs their stomach in laughter?  It’s because they’re working their waistline.  I was at a few birthday parties this weekend and I LAUGHED.

The past two days, I’ve been under a lot of stress.  I have a big ol’ thing coming up Friday and I’m afraid I won’t be good enough for it.  Because of that, compiled with some worry I have over a few of my friends, I’ve forgotten to laugh.  I woke up today and decided I’m going to anyway.  I’m going to find humor in my day and I’m going to laugh.  I’m headed to the mall to find me a mullet.  I think the Office starts tonight (I’m writing this Thursday).  I’m going to watch Will Ferrell slap his balls on his Step Brothers drum set.  You know why?  Because that’s some funny shit right there.

Laugh today.  Laugh at me.  Laugh with me.  Find some good in your day and make the most of it.  Love your friends.  Love your family.  Get on Twitter or Facebook and screw around with me, tell me a joke.  My waistline needs the workout.
