Charitable Guest Post – Champions Against Child Hunger

Below is the information for the Champions Against Child Hunger contest, sponsored by the ConAgra Foods Foundation (in partnership with Share Our Strength).

The ConAgra Foods Foundation and Share our Strength have partnered in the fight against child hunger by recognizing five Champions who are actively working to end child hunger in their communities, and those five finalists have been put up for a community vote to determine the ultimate Champion.

Please visit http://www.facebook.com/ConAgraFoodsFoundation to vote for your favorite Champion, from our group of five exceptional finalists. The ConAgra Foods Foundation has already committed $20,000 to Share Our Strength. Help us raise $80,000 more and reach our goal of donating $100,000 by voting for your favorite finalist, and encouraging your community to do the same.

You can vote once per day through March 19, 2010. Our Champions Against Child Hunger finalists include:

  • Charlie Kozlesky of Columbus, Ohio, who oversees the Children’s Hunger Alliance’s statewide Nutrition Programs in Ohio;
  • Nancy Pope of Albuquerque, N.M., who wrote the 2010 New Mexico Plan to End Hunger;
  • Tom Ramsey of Austin, Texas, founder of Celebration of Love in Austin;
  • Eileen Rasnick of Omaha, Neb., who runs the largest Summer Feeding Program site in the state of Nebraska; and
  • Diane Reeder of Kingston, N.Y., founder and executive director of the Queens Galley.

The grand prize winner will receive a trip to New York City, a cash prize of $1,000, and a $5,000 donation made in their name to Feeding America, Share Our Strength or their food bank of choice.   You can cast your vote for your favorite Child Hunger Champion at http://www.facebook.com/ConAgraFoodsFoundation.  Again, for every vote, the ConAgra Foods Foundation will donate $1 to Share Our Strength (up to $80,000).   Thank you for your consideration and we hope you’ll share this information with your community.
