Fitness Friday: You’d Be Surprised! Hillshire Farms Giveaway! CLOSED

I’m a Polish girl, so I grew up on “Polska Kielbasa”.  In fact, I hardly had room during Easter dinner because I just about cleared the Kielbasa platter laid out for the guests and family to snack on!  I’d also like to note that while a lot of people might consider Hillshire Farm Beef Smoked Sausage and Polska Kielbasa can actually help you get fit, which is why I think think this can count towards The Wii Mommies Fitness Friday.

Using quality cuts of meat, such as beef, pork, and turkey, Hillshire Farm Smoked Sausages and Polska Kielbasa are slow cooked with natural spices. So you get a quick and easy meal that’s savory, hearty, and delicious for only around $3.99.

I know that I’m not the greatest when it comes to eating, but I’m fantastic with staying fit working out with virtual fitness to  make up for it.  A while back, I was invited to compete along side some NFL pros and felt that along with my workouts, I needed to drop a few pounds I had gained stress eating.

What I did was start with the no carb routine for two weeks then high protein along with healthy whole grains.  My basic favorite recipe, which was quickly caught on by others was so simple, it was honestly a meal I ate daily (again, I AM a Polish girl).

I simply sliced up the Hillshire Farm Kielbasa that was provided for me to review (which I purchase anyway so yay savings!) and put it in a frying pan to lightly brown on each side.  In another pan, I simply scrambled some eggs and added the typical seasonings I liked and it was sweet, a tiny bit salty and made me full and over the month I had this diet routine, I lost 11 pounds! Low Cal Snacks to Savor

Here’s a great list of 1o low cal quick treats you can put together and savor in no time that I found on the Fitness Magazine Website.

Halve banana lengthwise. Melt bittersweet chocolate pieces in microwave; spread over banana. Top with scoop of your favorite flavor of low-fat frozen yogurt.

Strawberry Dippers

Dip whole strawberries in low-fat French vanilla, lemon chiffon, or chocolate yogurt.

Frozen Yogurt Sandwich

Mac n Chee and Broccoli-Cheese Soup Recipes

On occasion, I’ll go though a “I’m going to do everything from scratch” phase and I’ll start trying things out.  I’ve posted a few of my favorite recipes in my “Step Three-Recipes For Success” category on this site.  I am not a chef, nor do I play one on TV.  What I am is a mom who likes to switch things up like our dear Sandra Lee in Semi Homemade, only I don’t bring out the hard liquor to make a fancy cocktail when my meal is cooked.

What I do is modify what I read or hear about to suit my needs.  I’m a basic eater.  There are four year old kids out there who are more adventurous than me when it comes to eating.  I have no idea why I’m like this. I’m the only one in my family who is, but I know my faults and I embrace them :) (more…)

Mmmmeatloaf

I never liked meatloaf.  It’s one of those foods that reminds me of a snowflake-no two are alike.  Some have cheese, some load with veggies.  Everyone has their own way of making it and I had never found one that peaks my interest-until now.

I’m a modifier.  I like to read all the recipes and watch all the shows and I piece together bits and pieces until I find what suits me best.  I tend to like the sweet stuff.  Ha.  Tend to.  Okay, everything I eat is sweet.  I add honey to my mashed potatoes, sugar to my spaghetti.  I don’t know where it came from, but that’s who I am and I’ve accepted it. (more…)

Pie-gasm

A picture barely similar to the awesome that is the "O Pie"

Oh.  Oh this pie.  Man.  I love this pie.  I know I have a friend reading this right now salivating because she knows what pie I mean, now so will you.

On the one hand, you’ll all thank me for giving you the recipe given to me by my mother (who I believe got it from Kraft Food and Family magazine and modified it).  Not only does this pie taste great, but it has 1/2 the fat and hardly any sugar compared to other pies.   On the other hand, you may regret you ever met this pie, because if you’re even remotely like me, you’ll use the low fat and lower sugar data to rationalize eating the entire pie.  (more…)
