Fitness Friday – Inspire Someone Today!

The Wii Mommies

Well, I was wondering all week what I was going to write about.  Should I *brag* about my weight loss (101 pounds in two years, baby!) or talk about dieting and exercise”?  Nothing felt right to me.  Then today happened.

I’d like to start by saying I notice a lot of people talk about how “lucky I am” or how all of these things “happen to me”.  The things that have happened to and for me happened because I work for them.  I worked HARD to lose that 101 pounds and it took TWO years.  People see me bouncing around at conventions and other assorted events and want to be skinny.  WE ALL WANT TO BE SKINNY.  WE ALL HAVE TO WORK FOR IT. IT ALL TAKES TIME.  LOTS AND LOTS OF TIME.

That’s why I’m here.  That’s why The Wii Mommies are here.  We all have to set a goal and work towards it.  I act like I’m the cream of the crop because I have to, I’m a motivator.  I just happened to be a writer.  I just happened to lose weight.  It just happened to be using the Nintendo Wii Fit and it all came together and exploded into this giant ball of awesome. It wasn’t just luck though.  It was talent, hard work and extremely good timing lol. (more…)

Subway Has Breakfast & We’re Giving Away A $30 Gift Card! CLOSED

Yeah.  That’s what I said.  “YUM”.

Subway and Momspective would like to introduce (or re-introduce) to you their new breakfast line and show you how it’s clearly better than all of the other breakfast options we see out there when were on the go.  What’s unique about Subway breakfast is that it can provide fresh and healthy options that are customizable to your taste with sauces, veggies, cheese and meat toppings.  It’s not slapped together the night before and tossed on a tray for you. You are walked through the preparation of your breakfast and can be sure you’ve been provided with a healthy option while you’re on the go.

SUBWAY breakfast offerings feature a variety of sandwiches ranging from their Western Egg White Muffin Melt, with only 4 grams of fat for a quick snack, to a more filling meal with a Steak, Egg and Cheese sandwich. When Building Your Better Breakfast, don’t forget to customize! All of their breakfast sandwiches come on your choice of English muffins, subs or flatbread with a variety of veggies and toppings.

For me personally, I have to say that the customer service I get at my local Subway restaurant was outstanding.  There is just no way I can get to breakfast sometimes and I had the gift card in my hands and all I could think about was that sandwich.  If any of you take a look at the post before this, you’ll see that the Subway is in the Super Walmart that gave me a heck of a time yesterday.  Subway was the only highlight of that trip. Fitness Friday: Even Skinny Girls Have Cellulite!

The Wii Mommies

Well, gals, I’ve made a recent discovery.

I’m a size four.  No shit.  Julie Maloney is a size four.

Back when I was in high school in the 90′s, I don’t think a four existed.  I’m pretty sure it couldn’t have because we had a store called “5-7-9″ and I weighed 120 pounds and *think* I was a size six, so I couldn’t shop at that store.

Looking back, I remember thinking I was fat.  I think that no matter what our size, we think we’re fat because we’re supposed to.  It’s like it’s a built in reminder to find flaws in ourselves.

I wish I could go back in time and slap myself across the face. (more…)

Fitness Friday: You’d Be Surprised! Hillshire Farms Giveaway! CLOSED

I’m a Polish girl, so I grew up on “Polska Kielbasa”.  In fact, I hardly had room during Easter dinner because I just about cleared the Kielbasa platter laid out for the guests and family to snack on!  I’d also like to note that while a lot of people might consider Hillshire Farm Beef Smoked Sausage and Polska Kielbasa can actually help you get fit, which is why I think think this can count towards The Wii Mommies Fitness Friday.

Using quality cuts of meat, such as beef, pork, and turkey, Hillshire Farm Smoked Sausages and Polska Kielbasa are slow cooked with natural spices. So you get a quick and easy meal that’s savory, hearty, and delicious for only around $3.99.

I know that I’m not the greatest when it comes to eating, but I’m fantastic with staying fit working out with virtual fitness to  make up for it.  A while back, I was invited to compete along side some NFL pros and felt that along with my workouts, I needed to drop a few pounds I had gained stress eating.

What I did was start with the no carb routine for two weeks then high protein along with healthy whole grains.  My basic favorite recipe, which was quickly caught on by others was so simple, it was honestly a meal I ate daily (again, I AM a Polish girl).

I simply sliced up the Hillshire Farm Kielbasa that was provided for me to review (which I purchase anyway so yay savings!) and put it in a frying pan to lightly brown on each side.  In another pan, I simply scrambled some eggs and added the typical seasonings I liked and it was sweet, a tiny bit salty and made me full and over the month I had this diet routine, I lost 11 pounds! Fitness Friday-How Heavy Are Your Clothes?

The Wii Mommies

I thought I’d take a minute to talk to everyone about making sure your weight is consistent when using the Wii Fit Plus.

On your body test days, be conscious of what you’re wearing and how much you’re saying you weigh.  After you step on the board and get your initial weight taken, it asks that you enter how heavy your clothes are.

If you’re standing on the board in jeans and a sweater, subtract -4 pounds from your weight.  If you Wii Nude (it’s been done- by me anyway) then you’ll want to choose to subtract nothing (0).  Typically, people work out in shorts and a tee and will only take off -2 pounds.

The key is to stay consistent with the your clothing types, or to be aware of how heavy your clothes are to accurately weigh yourself.  You also want to try to do your body test around the same time every day, because your weight can change as much as 5 pounds in just one day. (more…)
