Superbowl Party Planning Tips and Giveaway!

Even though Carolina crushed my soul and managed to discredit years of game winning ‘No Pants Sunday’ rituals in one evening, I still love football. Since Carolina isn’t in the Superbowl, I can watch the game with my pants on and invite some friends over to watch it on our GIANT 106″ high def TV.

The key to a great Superbowl party is to have plenty of seating, great foods and good friends. Set your menu ahead of time and make sure to not overspend. Check your Sunday paper or online for coupons before you run to the store. This time of year, all the papers are loaded with Superbowl-type food coupons.

Stick with what you know. Get the chips and salsa and finger foods out along with beer (and lots of it!). Along with the cold foods, prepare some hot finger foods to pass around. You might want to try a recipe from my favorite Food Network star’s sons, the Deen Boys. They have a great Lime-Marinated Chicken Wings with Avocado Dip that’s actually pretty healthy, no mayo or stick of butter like their mama Paula likes to use! (It gets better. Hanging (myself) By the Seat of my Pants

football-boys-001

I’m renaming my first born. Making a noose out of the pants I took off yesterday evening. I don’t think a superstition in the world could have won that game.

All week, everyone kept saying Carolina ‘had this’ and I just didn’t feel right. Everyone I talked to said, ‘It’ll rain’ or ‘They can’t stop our run’. Maybe if we GOT to run, but that game was singlehandily lost by the birthday boy, Jake Delhomme.

I always have and always will defend Jake Delhomme. After all, I DID name my first child after him. I sat down last night (without pants) and just didn’t have a good feeling. (It gets better. Click to continue reading…)

The Heat Is On

Da na na na na, Da na na na na! The heat is—-ON.

Yeah…I’ve been named the Carolina Panther’s ‘Fan of the Week‘ and I’m thrilled to have the title. There are some haters out there, though. I’ve gotten myself a nasty-gram or twenty since the Charlotte Observer released my ‘No Pants Sunday‘ article.

The article I wrote for the paper yesterday was an updated version of the original, and if you head on over to my ‘Step Two: Must Love Sports’ section, you’ll read more about my love for the Panthers, watching them Pants-less and my fantasy football league.

I was reading the post written about me by Panther Tracks, and then I read the comments. I mean, really, people. First off, why anonymous? You lose total cred if you bash someone and can’t even say your name.

You’re Welcome, Carolina.

(Pats self on back)

Yep. I did it again. No Pants Sunday is an unquestionable success. The Carolina Panthers wiped the floor with Denver.

Ahhh…yeah. It’s a good feeling. I worked hard for that win, believe me. Even harder than the Tampa game the week before. I haven’t enjoyed a game like that Tampa one that much in YEARS. I was in my element. From the first play, I was spot on in my calls-good and bad. I knew Delhomme was going to throw those interceptions. I called the blocked kick seconds before it happened.

When the game was just about over I said, ‘You watch, we’re about to get another touchdown’ and seconds later we did. It was reminiscent of our glory days. We had beer. We ate chips and salsa. We did not wear pants. (It gets better. Click to continue reading…)
