Gatorade GSSI Testing – Putting the Rookie’s to the Test

Gatorade GSSI NFL

I’m so super.  Last year Gatorade invited me to Miami to check out their mobile GSSI (Gatorade Sports Science Institute) testing lab so I could get a taste of how valuable Gatorade really is in the science of peak athletic performance.  I was put in the “Bod Pod” (seen behind those very, very attractive men in the picture above) and I was also hooked up to the breathing tubes and rode the bike and found out quite a bit about my own physical condition (I’m thin but shouldn’t really eat the burgers.  Maybe a salad or two would be a good idea).

This year I was thrilled to be invited to speak with St. Louis Rams Linebacker James Laurinaitis about his experience mentoring and observing former Boston College Linebacker and potential top NFL Draft pick Mark Herzlich as he went through the extensive GSSI testing at the lab constructed in the Super Bowl XLV Media Center in Dallas and through my conversation with James I was able to get some great fitness tips as well as hear what he thought about the interest Gatorade takes in professional athletes. Because I’ve Been A Total Dick, Melanie Fields Wrote This -

Football can turn me into a loud, foul-mouthed, totally crazed blond lunatic. Pretty much the only other thing that can do this is tequila. Football gets my blood pumping and everything in me gets excited. It’s like the sports version of sex. Touchdowns and interceptions can be orgasmic!!! Or is that just me?

I’m a die-hard Green Bay Packers fan! Have been all my life. If you were to ever watch a game with me, you’d be in for a treat. I yell…I throw things…I invent new words. I would love to blame my husband for every bad thing our children say, but who the crap am I kidding? They probably heard mommy swearing at the refs for screwing up a call…”HOLDING!! How the hell did they not call that? Are they fucking blind???” By the end of the game, my hair is usually a mess from almost pulling it out and my voice is completely gone from screaming. Hell Yeah, I’m Talking Football!

Today is a huge day for football.  It also marks the end of the Momspective Fantasy Football Training for this year.  I think as the years progress, we’ll see more people joining up, since I’ll be making a few exciting changes.

Of course, my point in creating this league is to help women strengthen their relationships with their husbands/boyfriends by learning more about the NFL.  Some of the players this year knew and loved football, but wanted to get to know what the big deal is behind their spouses love for fantasy football while others who knew nothing about the sport used this as a tool to learn about the sport and show that they want to make an effort to understand the season that takes our men from us for two, sometimes three days a week.

This season, I had three training leagues and I’m so impressed with those who stuck it through to the end.  I’ve heard wonderful things about what it’s done for both the individual playing as well as their relationships.

In the first league, I actually made it to the playoffs but lost to “Steelers Girl”.  She absolutely beat my ass with a final score of 105 to 58.   Not humiliating.  Nope.  Not at all *sniff*.  Momspective II didn’t have me anywhere near the playoffs.  The two teams competing for the win was “Team Madmom” vs. “Boston Babe The Bumbles” and that Babe took that league win 130 to 52.  The Bumbles truly loved this Fantasy Football season.  She wrote about it more than I did. I’m Taking My Pants Off

It’s about that time of year to drop my pants and watch some football. Also, THIS IS MY 300th POST!

nakeasjaybird

Here I sit, naked as a jaybird (apparently that’s what they look like nude, I don’t get it) and it’s time to talk some Football (that’s American for FOOTBALL). I LOVE the NFL. Six years ago, I refused to even consider watching it, and now I’m teaching it to strengthen martial relations through Fantasy Football. At least, I will be if I ever get my ass in gear.

Years back, my brilliant husband put me through a 16 week training program. It involved drinking a TON of beer and watching the Carolina Panthers play. We watched each game alone, got drunk and I took my clothes off. It’s not that rare for me to strip when he and I are drinking, because he’s handsome and I’m an exhibitionist. (It gets better.
