A Blast From the Past-my Weekend Flashback Series

Once again, we’re flashing back to 1995 to check out some of the wisdom that shot out of my mind as a teen.

A Blast From the Past

What is the 90′s?

It’s a mixture of the ’60s through the ’80s (scary thought).  You see the long-hair hippie tie-dyed stoner ’60s groove, the funky ’70s Electric Chick Magnet disco look, and for some god-awful reason, the ’80s.  There’s no description for the ’80s, they were just THERE.

I’m here to tell you why the ’80s sucked, and why the ’60s and ’70s aren’t that bad.  Let’s just get this ’80s stuff out of the way.  Face it!  Look at the music!  New Kids on the Block?  I’m nauseous just saying it!  Debbie Gibson?  Tiffany?  And these groups were POPULAR!  At least I had sense enough to detest them!  I was still listening to 95X Classics!

And how about the clothes?  Even I got trapped in that!  All I picked up were what my friends were wearing, and what I saw on MTV.  (more…)

Weekend Flashback Series-The Brady’s

Welcome once again to a look back to what I used to write as a teen in Syracuse NY for the hj magazine (no longer in existence, but you can keep up on the haps in Upstate NY at Syracuse.com).  I wrote a script for an episode of the Brady Bunch 2/23/1995 (it was my nephew’s birthday-totally unrelated.  Also unrelated-Happy 1st to my Joshua today!).  This was in honor of the Brady Movie.  I’d like to say the movie released 2/17/95 and I had this written and handed in a week before it was published so I had no idea that it would end up so similar.  Just goes to show when a Brady breaks something, it gets fixed.

Weekend Fashback-How I’d Run the Oscars

Welcome to my weekend flashback series.  A few weeks back, I posted a picture of me as Oscar but I never posted the article.  It’s why we should change the ‘Oscars’ to the ‘Julies’ and how I’d run it.  Bear in mind, I mention an ex in there.  I’d omit it, but it wouldn’t be true to my writing so just ignore any parts that talk of boyfriends.

The Julies:

Last year as you know, or as  you SHOULD know, I was on the cover with my Oscar picks.  Well, this year it’s a little different.

I feel that, since I know the Oscars and the movie scene so well, it’s my turn to take over.  This is what it would be like if I were in charge of the Academy… (more…)
