Your Pet: Busted!

Well, I love my puppy.  And my kitty.  Let’s not forget my hamster so I love this new campaign that the AKC and ADT have put in place!  I was sent a bunch of ‘window clings’ to put my pet info on and I put them at the entries to my home and handed the rest out to my neighbors.

I travel.  A lot.  My entire family travels and while we have neighbors checking in daily on our pets, there’s just no telling what can happen when we’re out of town.  I couldn’t bear the thought of coming home to find a house full of memories burned to the ground but more than that, I couldn’t possibly stand the loss of my pets.

The American Kennel Club (AKC) and ADT Security Services have declared July 15th as National pet fire safety day to help save the estimated 500,000 pets affected in home fires each year. With an ADT fire monitoring system in a home, activated smoke and heat detectors alert trained professionals working 24/7 in one of seven interconnected monitoring centers across North America. They promptly contact a nearby fire department to report the alarm.

One of the hallmarks of responsible dog ownership is keeping pets safe and planning for unexpected emergencies. As part of this public awareness campaign we are pleased to distribute ADT pet alert ‘window clings’.

ADT is celebrating National Pet Fire Safety Day with a “Your Pet: Busted!” contest! “Like” the ADT Facebook page (www.facebook.com/adt),  submit your favorite “candid” photo of your pet and then get folks to vote for your pic. Or just browse the gallery and vote for your favorite. The highest rated photo could win you a gift basket full of perfect prizes for your pet (a $375 value), courtesy of ADT Pulse Interactive Services, a new line of home management and remote security systems from ADT.

Calling In Sick

I can’t write today.  My Step-father is in critical condition from an operation and I can’t be funny.  Just didn’t want you to think I was ignoring everyone.  I just can’t be funny. Thank you all for your thoughts, prayers and support.

When I Was Seventeen?

Okay.  So I wrote this big old post and found it boring as hell and deleted it.  I put a call out on Facebook and told everyone to tell me what to write.  The first four people suggested -

  1. Miss Julie said – “raises hand…I’m super interesting. Write about me!”
  2. Larry Brauner said – “How about something you did over the weekend?”
  3. Christi said – “When you were 17.”
  4. Brandy said – “I think the weekend may be interesting .. or a funny thing that happened … ummm…”

Since all I really know about Julie is that she and I are going to stop shopping and start swapping clothes via mail, I can’t say too much about her, other than the fact that she and I must beer.

I actually wrote about what both Brandy and Larry suggested but it didn’t have the flow I was looking for and felt too forced, so I deleted it and asked what to write about henceforth (bringing that word back, people. Get on it) leading me to ask what to write about on Facebook.

I’ll end up mentioning my weekend tomorrow maybe.  It was random, just like Tuesdays are.

So Christi from Blah Blah Blog wins, and all four of them got linky love.

When I was 17… (It gets better. Click to continue reading…)
