Fitness Friday – Watch The Damn Candy!

fitness-friday-button-new

That’s right, you heard me.  GET YOUR HAND OUT OF THE CANDY BOWL.

Get.  It.  Out.

Could someone please make it a point to say that to me for the next 2-4 weeks or so?  THANKS.

I am screwed.  I usually try to keep my Friday’s profesh, but I am quaking in fear, staring at my size 10 jeans, debating if I’d rather look good or eat candy and I’ve gotta tell ya, the candy was winning.

Since early May, I have been finding one reason or another to eat.

“I’m sad, I’m entitled to a slice (or three) of pizza.”

“I had a near death experience, let me drink gravy.”

“Someone said I look too thin, I owe it to them to eat this entire Oreo pie.

“It’s Tuesday, give me a Reeses.” (It gets better. Click to continue reading…)

First Impressions Baby Clothes

macys

Babies, babies, babies!

Seems like everybody’s having them these days, doesn’t it?

I remember when I was pregnant with my first child, I armed myself with my baby registry scanner and registered for just about every single thing I could find.  I registered for bottles, pacifiers and toys I’d never even use.  When a friend of mine asked me if I registered for a layette, I said “A wha-?”

I honestly never even thought about what I’d bring the baby home in.  I had no idea they took pictures of the baby in the hospital and I seriously didn’t know that I should get a super cute outfit to put on my baby when it was time for the pictures.

When I was finally schooled on the facts and traditions of parenthood, I then had to choose the layette I’d want my baby to wear.   I looked in stores and online and really wanted to make sure I chose what would not only look adorable, I wanted something that was super soft and okay against my babies sensitive skin.

According to First Impressions,  a layette is made up of all the soft pieces your newborn needs for his or her fist days and weeks.  These include:

Depth Perception, Insomnia & Other Random Tuesday Thoughts

randomtuesday

I may or may not be funny today.  I am EXHAUSTED. I have had insomnia since a very young age.  It actually runs in my family.  Ambien was what saved me.  I have the ability (if you want to call it that) to stay awake for days on end.  I’m sick as a dog when I do, but I still stay awake.  Saturday night, I didn’t get a wink.  Sunday my son got me up about 2 hours after I took the Ambien but last night I ran out and my insurance won’t cover it until today so I was up.  I finally took a few Xanex to get me there and passed my ass out this morning until noon.  Thank god I have a friend vacationing at my house for a little while who’s great with children.

You will never in your life meet someone as clumsy as me.  THAT is my gift.  I just ate a Toaster Strudel (say that with a German accent please) and got some on the arm of my couch.  I actually love my strudel (again, Germain accent.  It has to happen) so much that I just licked it off the couch without thinking.

Last night, I was at Sam’s Club.  It took me 45 minutes to get there because my Garmin felt like fucking with me, even though it’s only six miles from my home and my friend came along to help me out and would NOT stop farting the most disgusting ass I’ve ever encountered.  We had all four windows down. He even grossed himself out. (It gets better. Click to continue reading…)

Momspective/Wii Mommies Guest Post – Renewed focus and sense of strength

I got a tweet from a forum member the other day and she wanted to share her story with us but doesn’t have a blog to post it on.  I offered up my website and I’m glad I did!  Please welcome Christine, @CunningMom in the Forum and on Twitter!

fitness-friday-button-new

I have just discovered Wii Mommies and I wanted to post something for Fitness Fridays. This actually has to do with my workout yesterday but I really wanted to write about it!

On Wednesday I was feeling like crap because of my weigh-in and because I’ve been stuck for a couple of months at this weight, not going anywhere. I lost my focus a bit with my running and the Wii. Thursday was a new day. I dropped my 2yo at daycare, got home, ate breakfast, fed my 5 month old and got him in the jogger stroller. With my ipod charged up I was ready to tackle a 12 km or 13 km run.

I started running again, about two months ago. The longest run I have done to date was 11 km/7 m and that was last summer, before I was pregnant with baby #2. I was walking a lot after my son was born, at least 10 km at a time. Last long walk before I started running again was 11 km/7 m. I decided I have to increase my distance, about half a km a week. Generally I run three times a week, two 10 km runs and a short 5 km run. I decided I’m going to run a 12 km or 13 km. (It gets better. Click to continue reading…)
