Fitness Friday-The Difference Between EA SPORTS Active & Wii Fit

fitness-friday-button-new

By now, everyone might know that I am a part of the first 12 challengers to take part in the EA SPORTS Active 30 day Challenge.   Being that my “fame” stems from my sixty pound weight loss using the Nintendo Wii Fit, I’m constantly being asked “which is better” and I’m here to tell you right now.  You can’t compare the two.

First off, I want to be clear.  In order to use either product, you need to have a Nintendo Wii gaming system.  Both The Wii Fit and EA Sports Active are products, or “games”, you buy for use with the Nintendo Wii System.  You do not need to own a Wii Fit to play EA Sports Active and vice versa.  They are two completely separate products with one goal in mind-to help you get healthy.

You really can’t compare the two in a side-by-side challenge.  The Wii Fit is more about yoga, balance and fitness through game play like hula hooping, ski jumping and tightrope walking.  EA SPORTS Active is a high-energy personal trainer in a box.  Literally.  (It gets better. Win a Subway P.E.P Rally Kit! CLOSED

Last week, I wrote a post about joining in to help SUBWAY® Restaurants and the National Institute of Health to help spread the word about the We Can!â„¢ or “Ways to Enhance Children’s Activity & Nutrition”, a national program designed for families and communities to help children maintain a healthy weight. The program focuses on three important behaviors: improved food choices, increased physical activity and reduced screen time.

To help inspire readers to get their kids off the couch and outside having fun, we’re giving away a Subway P.E.P. Rally Kit (Play more, Eat right, Push away the screen) containing: sidewalk chalk, jump rope, Frisbee, flower seeds, bubbles, etc. and a $10 SUBWAY gift card!

Professor Parrot Language CD/DVD Giveaway! CLOSED

My son is a very talkative little man, he’s already picking up songs in Polish and does fairly well at counting in both English and Spanish.   He’s nearly four and his only fault is that his mind moves fast then his mouth so he finds himself having to repeat himself as he’s trying to find the right words he’d like to say.

I was contacted by the good people at Professor Parrot, a company that has been enriching lives since 1993 with CD’s and DVD’s that can help teach your children various languages from around the world.

Co-founders Beth Huddleston and Karen Yates met in the summer of 1984 while enrolled in an innovative German class that used the Lozanov method of left brain/right brain techniques, music and puppets to teach foreign languages to adults.  This class changed their lives and subsequently led to them revolutionizing the language industry by making available a way to teach languages by exposing children at an early age.

I received a Professor Parrot Sound Beginnings 2 CD set and a Professor Parrot DVD that makes Spanish fun!  We play the CD’s each night at bedtime after Jacob gets his nightly stories and the calming words and music soothe him to sleep while helping him to learn languages like Spanish, French, German, Russian and more! spring-ds-bundle

New for the Nintendo DS is a great way to bring mom into the modern world and help her out in the kitchen! To celebrate the season of growth and rejuvenation, Nintendo announces the blooming of a new Nintendo DS system color: Green. The cool new color comes bundled with a hip carrying case and a copy of the Personal Trainer: Cooking video game, which serves as an interactive cooking coach.

You can read my review of the game yourself to see what a great option this would be for mom to celebrate her day. The new bundle will be available on May 3, which just happens to be a week before Mother’s Day (hint, hint). Just like everyone else, moms are always looking for new and interesting meal ideas. Personal Trainer: Cooking includes more than 245 recipes from around the world, along with step-by step instructions for how to prepare them. (It gets better. Click to continue reading…)
